4D Planning were instructed to assist the client to make the most of the existing flat above a shop. We considered an option to convert the flat which was over two stories into two separate flats. After establishing that the proposal was feasible, we were instructed by the client. We prepared the architectural drawings and planning documents and liaised with the council. The Council insisted on us providing refuse store and cycle parking. Cycle parking would have to be on the pavement at the front of the property on at the rear on the ground floor level garden (owned by the applicant) but accessible via a long staircase. Refuse store did not exist at the property as occupants placed bin bags on the street during collection times. We negotiated with the Council and the Waste Team and we reached a compromise. Planning permission was eventually granted by Lewisham Council.
