4D Planning were commissioned by the School of Rock American Franchise company to assist with their first UK premises. We undertook a high-level feasibility report to determine if planning is likely to be granted. Our conclusions were decisive and planning permission was very likely. We were instructed by our client to prepare the architectural drawings of the premises, draft the Planning Statement and other statements to accompany the application. We coordinated with the acoustic consultant to address potential noise from the School of Rock educational premises to neighbouring flats above and provided a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan. We submitted the planning application and liaised with Richmond Council planning officers. We liaised with the heritage officer and negotiated several changes to the signage to ensure the signage was respectful of the historic building but also, advertised the franchise branding in the best possible way. Planning permission was granted for the change of use and advertisement consent was approved for the proposed signage and external lighting.
